It's amazing to me how much this little girl has changed in one year...
*She went from saying a few words to talking in sentences and repeating everything we say
*She went from JUST learning to take steps to walking, running, jumping
*She went from all-day-diapers to only nap and nighttime diapers (yay potty trained!)
*She went from nursing twice a day (which we ended at 13 months) and eating just particular and small bits of things to eating everything and LOTS of it
*Her hair went from long to longer
*She's gotten chubbier
There are so many more ways she has changed in this past year. I am so thankful for this blessing to be a mother. It's so fun to watch her learn, change, and grow.
Recent Development: Learning pronouns, but gets them confused (she asks to sing, "Jesus Loves You" instead of "Jesus Loves Me"... I think because I call it "Jesus Loves Me" and she also says "Help you" instead of "Help me") .... Potty training is great (just wears diapers at nap and night, no accidents) .... Getting 2 year old molars (has had the bottom 2 for a little while but the top 2 are being more stubborn) .... Going down for naps and night great (yay!) .... Has 2 more favorite songs (BIBLE and Jesus Loves Me) ... Knows 2 colors (yellow and purple) ... count 1-10 but always skips #3
Life has a way of keeping you on your toes. Yesterday was Sophie's birthday party because she turned 2 last week! We celebrated the party at Ben's parents' house, and as we were driving there, Sophie threw up all over herself! It was so sad, and she was so devastated about being "messy." She had never thrown up before, and we were in the car, so I went into panic mode about what to do. It all worked out, and we got her and her carseat cleaned up once we got to Ben's parents. She threw up once more before her party, and she didn't eat all day, so we're guessing she had the 24 hour flu, but she seemed fine otherwise, and we were still able to have a good party.
The party was minnie mouse themed! I made the cupcakes myself (with the help of Ben who put the icing on). I got the idea from Pinterest but made mine a little different. I'm not really that creative or patient with projects like this, so I was proud of the outcome!
Grandma Miller got Sophie a cute dress for the party! (She threw up on it so we had to wash it before the party)
Me with my 2 year old!
She blew out her candle!
And took one bite of the cupcake before being all done...
She did great at opening her gifts! She started opening them before we told her it was time... apparently she understands and likes gift-opening now.
All in all, it was a great day even though it didn't go the way we had planned!
I am so thankful for this precious little girl that God gifted us with 2 years ago. She is sweet, smart, loving, cautious, clean, decisive, a pleaser ... and of course, she's also sassy and sometimes naughty... God is teaching me so much through this little girl.
