Lyla's Development [8 Months]

Lyla Baby is 8 months! And look at that picture up there... do you see that little pudge in the belly?! Yay! We went to the doctors the other day, and she gained a pound this last month- up to 12 pounds, 10 ounces. She's still not on the charts, but the doctor was really pleased and relieved. Lyla also seems happier now too, which means I am pleased and relieved! I mean, we only took 6 "monthly sticker" pictures this time because it was so easy to get her to look and be happy.

This last month, Lyla learned how to sit up! She loves being able to sit up. I can actually walk away sometimes while she plays with toys, and she doesn't freak out. It's wonderful.

We've also stopped swaddling her completely this past month. I always like this because it means one less thing I have to remember when we leave the house.

She chews on everything, but no new teeth. She loves gnawing on anything close by.

She really seems to have taken a liking to her sisters this past month. She'll laugh and smile when she sees them. It's so sweet, and I love it.

I've started teaching her sign language this past month. Mostly "more" since she's been whining for food. Several people have asked if she knows how to wave "hi" as she's done it at appropriate times. I'm not certain, but possibly! It's funny... with your first kid, you push for everything so much that you're certain they're doing things at the first inkling... but now on my third baby, I'm always like "Surely it's too early for this?"

Likes: blanky, paci, food, clean diaper, people, being held, chewing on things, being talked to, sleeping, sisters, books, bottles (yes, this went from a dislike to a love... now she gets all excited when she sees it)

Dislikes: Being changed (clothes and diaper), having to wait for her food when she can see it

Foods She Eats: Sweet Potato, Butternut Squash, Peas, Green Beans, Avocado, Mashed Potatoes Banana, Peaches, Grapes, Apple, Mango, Turkey, Ground Beef, Ground Sausage, Chicken (She's a fantastic eater.)

(I haven't paid great attention to her schedule this past month as I've been just trying to make sure she eats a lot, but here is a round about schedule)
8am- Wake, Nurse, Banana
9:30am- Nap
11/11:30am - Wake, Nurse, Food, 2 oz bottle of formula
12:30/1pm- Nap
2pm - Wake, Nurse, 2 oz bottle
3:30pm- Nap
5pm- Wake, Nurse, Food, Water
6:30/7pm- Nap (night naps have been more difficult this month and sometimes they don't happen)
8pm- Wake, Nurse, 3 oz bottle
9pm- Bedtime
(This last week she's been waking up between 10 and 12 to nurse. Not sure what's up, but I'm just going with it for now.)

We took Lyla's 6 month pictures this past week (a little late since she took her time learning to sit up :))... here are three. We haven't gotten the rest back yet. (by Carrie Weaver Photography)

And some other pictures from this past month.
