Schedule [Sophie- 15 months]

I enjoy keeping track of Sophie's schedules throughout her babyhood for the sake of looking back on them myself as well as sharing them with other moms. Her last schedule I posted was at 12 months, here (and it has a link to her previous schedules). She's changed a lot already since 12 months! She is now almost 16 months, and we have dropped her second nap so that she is down to just one nap on most days. She's done well with the adjustment. I liked two naps, but she goes to bed better at night and sleeps a little longer in the morning with just one, so that's a nice trade-off. She also no longer nurses, as she stopped nursing at 13 months, so that has changed her schedule some.

15 month schedule:
8:00- Wake/Eat Breakfast
10:00 - Snack (with lots of playtime all around)
11:30 - Lunch
12:00 - Nap
2:00-3:00- Wake (depends on the day what time she wakes)
3:00 - Snack
5:30- Dinner
7:00- Snack
8:00- Bedtime


We've been doing lots of different things for wake times- mostly playing at home (she's great at independent play!), playing outside with her toys out there sometimes, playing in her kiddy pool, playing with the neighbor boy or other little kids, going to the park, going to the fair (she loves animals), going on walks, etc.

Sophie Loves Summer

Sophie LOVES summertime. She loves being outside. The heat doesn't even phase her. She likes to ride in her car, go down her slide, go for rides in her wagon or stroller, run around, get in the kiddy pool, and find dogs to pet. 

She loves to go to the park.

She loves sweetcorn.

She loves the county fair where she can see animals.

We've been having a great summer so far. We've visited lots of friends, and we've done lots of fun things. 

New Things Sophie's Doing/Saying: She points out eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, hair, hands, and feet (and tries to say them all), she says "down," she learned how to eat corn on the cob, she says goat and kitty, she "jumps" (her feet don't really come off the ground) and says the word, she says "Noooo!" (it's real fun!), she doesn't like to share, she pretends (it's so cute- she pretend to eat and drink and she pretends to pick up things and hand them to you).

Another Miller Baby!

We are so excited to be pregnant again with our second baby. We hoped and prayed for this baby. We wanted to have a baby close in age to Sophie, and we also really hoped to have a baby in our year off from schooling... it was difficult at times to be have a newborn while going back to classes. I'm so glad I'll have 6 months at home with this baby before we go to the Missionary Training Center.

I am around 11 weeks pregnant and due in early February. Now that it's facebook official, I'll try to use this blog to keep up with some baby stuff (incase any of you wonder, I try to keep the other blog more "family/missions" related and this one more "baby/mommy" related since I know some of the people who follow our regular blog don't really care about breastfeeding or cloth diapers or morning sickness :) 

Speaking of morning sickness... I actually get night sickness. Blech! It's still sticking around a little, but thankfully I think it's on it's way out. I haven't thrown up as much this time as I did with Sophie, but I think part of it is because learned to manage my food better (what to eat/not eat, when to eat/not eat, etc). I still felt sick almost every night. I was sick earlier this time (6 weeks instead of 8 weeks).

Food aversions? I really dislike meat during the first trimester. I remember being the same with Sophie too. Even the thought of some of my favorite meats can make me gag. It's so weird how that happens. I also didn't care too much for veggies or salad. 

Food likes? (I don't really have cravings)... toaster waffles! I ate them morning and night a number of times. They always sounded good and always sat well with me. I just but margarine on them - no syrup.

I've been more tired this time. Not sure if it's just because I have Sophie now or if it's because it's a different pregnancy. I've been going to bed by 10pm almost every night though, which is 2 hours earlier than my normal bedtime. It's been nice. 

Today was my first appointment. It was wonderful, and I got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It was a strong healthy 172.

Lover of Driving

 Sophie is also a lover of driving! It all began one day when we were still at school and she discovered her friend Sadie's Cozy Coupe car. She became obsessed with it and even had an attitude when it was other kids' turn.

So we decided she needed her own, and Grandma Miller went out and got her her very own pink car.

She also loves to "drive" Daddy's car, golf carts, tractors, and anything else anyone will let her get her hands on. And she affectionately says, "bop bop" for "beep beep" when she gets in.

Lover of Animals

In Sophie's first year of life, she didn't have a lot of chances to get used to animals because most people at school didn't have any. Since we've been at Ben's parents' house for a month, she has gotten to hang out with a lot of animals, and she is now obsessed with them. 

The first animal she really got to know and like was Shep the dog. He doesn't really care for Sophie, so he usually walks away when she comes near. I make him sit sometimes so she can pet him though...

Sophie LOVES the kitties, and the good thing is, these kitties love her too. There are two, and they are both the nicest cats. She pets them, picks them up, pushes them, and hits them, and they put up with all of it without scratching, hissing, or running away. Sophie calls them "diddy" for "kitty."

She also loves to walk down to the barn to see the goats (and pig). We do this every day, usually about 3 times, and then she also often tries to talk Grandpa and Grandma into going down with her too.

Baby Swings are for Babies, Silly

Sophie loves the playground. She loves the slide the best, but she also like teeter totters and usually likes swings. She's even just happy to run around and pick up stones.

She's pretty cute herself when she's in the baby swing....

...her daddy on the other hand just looks goofy.

Words [14 months]

Summertime has come, and Sophie and I are enjoying spending our days together :) Today she is 14 months! So far this summer, we have gone to the park, went camping with my family, celebrated Ben's younger brother's graduation, visited with some friends, visited a friend's new baby, went on wagon and stroller rides, and Sophie especially loves her new friend Shep- Ben's parents' dog.

The biggest thing Sophie is doing these days is learning and trying new words ALL.THE.TIME!
I'm going to attempt to write down all of the words she says these days: mama, dada, duck, ball, uh oh, yeah (and yes), please, baby, balloon, mouth, dog, woof, moo, eeheehee (horse sound), rahrrr (lion sound), more, teeth, belly button, up, out, hey, shoes, snack, button, sit, that, slide, yuck, jump, go, book, "aw," "wee." I think I got them all :)

In other news, she also has noticed that I dump the poo from her cloth diapers into the toilet, apparently.... because I keep finding her heading into the bathroom with a (clean) diaper and trying to lift up the toilet seat. The first time I thought she was being naughty, but then I realized she was just imitating what she's seen me do. So cute! Too bad she doesn't really get the concept. I'd gladly let her dump her own poo!

Sophie's current Loves are: dogs, brushing her teeth, stroller/wagon rides, cozy coupe car, crackers, water, her mama, shoes, buttons, curtains and doors and steps, books

Dislikes: Getting her diaper changed, having her hair washed, having her finger nails clipped (although she's finally getting a little better about her hands being held- as long as she thinks she's in control), sitting anywhere for more than 30 seconds (she's always moving!), hats/face masks, getting too close to most animals (like goats and pigs for instance)
