Lyla's Development [3 Months]

This precious gift is 3 months old. Lyla rolled over (several times) for the first time this past month, from belly to back. She also giggled for the first time, although getting her to giggle is still hard. She loves to talk and does so more than I remember either of my other girls doing as babies. She also spits up more than either of my other girls did. She is a pretty easy and laid-back baby. She still snorts, and she gags herself when she talks and smiles big, haha.

Likes: her playmat, being talked to, nursing, sleeping, her rocker seat

Dislikes: loud noises and yelling, Brielle sitting on her or kicking her ;), baths, being held in the cradle position, not getting good sleep

Schedule:
8:30/9am - Wake, nurse
12pm - Nurse
3pm - Nurse
5:30pm- Nurse
8/9pm- Nurse
4/5am - Nurse
(She generally eats 6 times a day, but sometimes 7. She usually is awake for about an hour between each feeding, but sometimes a little longer)

Videos of the Girls [3, 18 months, 2 months]

I have really slacked with taking videos of the girls for a long time, so I decided to take some recently of each of the girls.

Here is Sophie, at 3 years old:

Here is Brielle, at 18 months:

Lyla at 2 months:

Lyla's Development [2 Months]

Little Lyla is 2 months. I'm so thankful for this little piece of joy in my life. She is full of smiles but also is sure to scream her head off if she's hungry or needs to go to sleep. She loves her sisters, and Brielle loves to point out her belly button and nose all the time.

This month, she's started to try to talk. Usually she just ends up snorting instead :) She also snorts when she cries.

Likes: Eating, sleeping, being swaddled, paci, blanky, being talked to, being held up by shoulder

Dislikes: Having her clothes changed, being suffocated and squished by her sisters, being held in the cradle position, being on her tummy

Schedule:
(This month her schedule has been different from week to week, for various reasons, but here is the general)
8am - Nurse
11am - Nurse
2:30pm - Nurse
6pm- Nurse
8pm - Nurse
10:30pm- Nurse
4am - Nurse
(She generally is up for an hour before she's ready to sleep again)

Brielle's Development [18 Months]

Brielle is a year and a half already. She is much more adventurous than Sophie, she's whiney, and she's silly.

Likes: food, being outside, being held, her blank and paci, sleeping,  animals, shoes, wagon and stroller rides, swimming

Dislikes: being told no, getting changed, being left alone

Her vocabulary has really started to pick up this past month:
Words: ball, bubbles, dog, kitty, mama, dada, Lyla, baby, sissy/Sophie, grandma, nose, shoe, mine, water, cheese, please, more, hi, bye, go, “Let it go," horsey, walk (she'll repeat almost any word we say)

Schedule:
8-8:30am - Wake up, Eat
10:30-11am - Nap
12pm - Wake, Eat
2pm - Nap (until 4/4:30pm)
6pm - Eat
7:30pm - Bedtime

Lyla's Development [1 Month]

This sweet girl is already one month old. Wow! does it go fast with the third baby. She was born at 6 lbs, 9 oz, and the last time we weighed her, one week before she was a month old, she weighed 8 lbs, 2 oz. She's still tiny, but she's growing great!

In the first month, she's had her first smile:

She also has great head control.

She likes having her tummy full, being swaddled, her paci, sleeping, and being held and talked to.

She dislikes diaper changes, having her clothes changed, and immediately after her feedings are done (takes her a few minutes to realize she's actually full). She also doesn't love tummy time.

Schedule:
9am - Nurse
12am - Nurse
4pm- Nurse
7:30 pm- Nurse
10:30pm - Nurse
4:30am - Nurse
Usually takes 25-30 minutes to nurse and is up for an hour to an hour and a half total.

Sisters: Side-by-Side Newborns

Back in this post, I compared Sophie and Brielle as newborns. I wanted to do the same with Lyla. So here are the side-by-side pictures of all three girls as newborns :)

The Name: Lyla Jubilee

Thankfully we've had three girls and not three boys, because girl names have always been easier for me. Even with this being our third girl, I still had more girl names picked out than boy names. I told Ben that if this baby was a girl, we were definitely using the middle name Jubilee. I've always wanted to use it, but with our other two girls, we wanted to name them after family. I think Jubilee is pretty, but I've always loved the meaning. In the Old Testament of the Bible, the year of Jubilee was where all debts were forgiven every 49th year. The term transfers over and refers to our debts and sins being forgiven when we put our faith in Jesus Christ as our savior. We had an ultrasound where our midwife was 75% sure it was a girl. We decided to wait a month and have another ultrasound to be sure before announcing to the world, but in the meantime, we talked names. We picked out a name, but then we were watching the movie August Rush with friends, and the mom's name in that movie is Lyla. Ben asked me what I thought about it, and I told him I liked it and that we could use it. This was the first time Ben had suggested a name, so I was glad to accept it.
We decided on Lyla two weeks before our second ultrasound. Two days before the ultrasound, I got a text in the middle of the night from Ben's sister Katie that she had her baby. There was a picture, and underneath was the name. I did a double-take when I saw the name: Layla. What are the chances?! We had joked all along, since Katie and her husband weren't announcing the name, that we were going to find it out and announce it as our names. We never figured we'd actually choose names so close! We debated about whether to still use Lyla, and we asked advice of others (we were surprised how many families have the same or similar names in their families). I told Ben it was his final decision, and in the end, we decided Lyla Jubilee was the best name for our little girl. I love her name with my two other girls' names: Sophie and Brielle.
